Heidi Klum, born on the 1st of June 1973 in Bergisch Gladbach Germany. Erna Klum who was Heidi's mother was a professional hairdresser. Gunther Klum was a executive for a cosmetics corporation. Heidi's dad was previously a production supervisor for the 4711 corporation. It was in Bergisch Gladbach she was born and lived her entire life. Bergisch Gladbach is only six miles from Cologne. Heidi Klum is a former German-American fashion model who now works as a TV host as well as a fashion producer. Karin, a girlfriend of the 18-year old student who was at the time, encouraged her to join a German talent show dubbed Model 92. The German women's magazine Petra sponsored the show which was part of Thomas Gottschalk's late night talkshow. Klum was competing against over 25,000 contestants from all over Germany and Europe until she became the third semi-finalist. She won a $300,000 top model prize in the month of April, 1992.
