Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name of Winona Laura Hoowitz, who was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named their daughter in honor of her hometown. Her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder's dad came from the Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. Ryder also has a half-sister, Sunyata Jubal. Her younger sister is Uria. Ryder as well as her entire family relocated to Mendocino, California, when Ryder was seven. In Mendocino County, they did not have electricity. There was no television books were Ryder's only distraction to pass the time. Eventually, she became an avid reader. Ryder began taking acting classes when Ryder was 12years old and was enrolled in classes at the American Conservatory Theatre. Her first role was a success on the big screen in 1986, when she was 15 years young. Ryder experienced bullying at high school. Her professional acting, she believed, would help her. However, it didn't come happen. It didn't stop her from following her dreams. Her big break came in 1988 with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder continued to play successful roles. In 1993, she was nominated twice for Academy Awards. One of the nominations was for her part In The Age of Innocence.
