Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is an enigmatic singer, composer and performer. He blends soul gospel jazz with R&B in a distinct mix. Avery Sunshine has appeared on Broadway and at festivals in Europe as well as performing at Democratic National Convention. Her real name is Denise White. Although she lives in Atlanta however, she comes out of Chester Pennsylvania where she began her musical vocation by singing and playing the piano in church. In Atlanta she went to Spellman College where her musical education began in Atlanta's R&B Scene. Jennifer Holliday (a Grammy and Tony Award winner) was approached for a position as director of the choral section of Dreamgirls in Atlanta in the National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine became the focus of interest during four consecutive performances during the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was subsequently invited to sing at the inauguration of President Obama in 2009.
